Smart home and automation on the Gold Coast

Smart switches, scheduled lighting, motorised blinds and energy monitoring make a home easier to run, as long as they are wired properly and actually work together. We install reliable, Australian-approved smart devices on your fixed wiring and set them up in the app you already use.

Where smart home upgrades help most

You do not need a whole-home system to get the benefit. Most clients start with one of these.

Garden, pool and facade lighting you want on a schedule instead of a switch
Lights you want to switch from bed, the car or the couch
Motorised blinds or curtains that need power at the window
A pool pump, hot water or heater you want to run when solar is generating
Wanting to see what your home uses, circuit by circuit, in real time
A holiday home or rental you want to monitor and control while you are away

Smart home work we install

We recommend products that suit your home and the platform you already use, not a closed system you are locked into.

Smart switches and dimmers

Wall switches and dimmers that work by hand, by app, by voice and on schedules, in styles that match your existing plates.

Smart relays and outdoor control

Relays behind existing switches or at the board to control garden, pool and facade lighting, pumps and heaters.

Blinds and curtain power

Power points or hardwired connections at each window for motorised blinds, coordinated with your blind supplier.

Energy monitoring

A monitor at the switchboard that shows whole-home and circuit-level use, plus solar generation, in an app.

How much does smart home wiring cost on the Gold Coast?

A smart switch replacing an existing switch starts from $145, and most clients start with three to six switches or relays for between $450 and $900. Older homes without a neutral at the switch may need a different product or a short cable run. Whole-home systems with scenes and keypads are quoted after a walk through.

You get a price for every device, with any wiring changes it needs.

03

Install and connect

Devices are installed, connected to your Wi-Fi or hub and added to your app.

04

We set your schedules and scenes, show you how to change them and issue your certificate.

Standards and compliance

Any smart device connected to fixed 240-volt wiring must be installed by a licensed electrician. We install only products approved for sale in Australia that carry the RCM mark, wired by A-grade licensed electricians to AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules). You receive a Certificate of Testing and Safety and a list of every device installed.

What clients say about our smart home work

Read all reviews

“The garden lights come on at sunset by themselves.”

Smart relays on the garden, pool and facade lighting, all in the one app with schedules. They took the time to set it up exactly how we wanted.

Sanctuary Cove · Smart lighting

“We can check the apartment from home.”

Smart switches and blind power in our holiday unit. We turn the lights on before guests arrive and can see everything is off when they leave.

Surfers Paradise · Smart home

“Finally know where our power goes.”

Energy monitor at the board showed the old pool pump was the culprit. Now it runs on a schedule while the solar is up.

FAQs

Smart home questions

What homeowners ask before going smart.

Can I install smart switches myself?

Not if they connect to 240-volt wiring. In Queensland any work on fixed wiring must be done by a licensed electrician. Plug-in smart plugs are fine to use yourself.

Will smart switches work with my existing app?

We choose products that work with Google Home, Apple Home or Amazon Alexa, depending on what you already use, so everything sits in one app.

Why do some smart switches need a neutral?

Most smart switches need a neutral wire at the switch to stay powered. Many older homes do not have one there. We check before quoting and choose a product or wiring option that suits.

What happens if the Wi-Fi goes down?

The switches still work by hand on the wall. Schedules and app control return when the network does.

Are cheap smart switches from online marketplaces safe?

Not always. Products connected to fixed wiring in Australia must be approved for sale here and carry the RCM mark. We only install products that do.

Can I start small and add more later?

Yes. Most clients start with outdoor lighting or a few key switches and add more over time. We plan the first stage so it works with what comes next.
