How much does lighting installation cost on the Gold Coast?
Swapping existing halogen downlights for LED is the most common job, and a typical three-bedroom home with 20 to 30 downlights lands between $1,380 and $2,070. New light points, where we run fresh cable through the ceiling, cost more than a straight swap. Two-storey access, raked ceilings and pendants that need extra support also affect the price. How we plan and install your lighting

Walk through and plan
We look at each room, the ceiling space and how you use it, then recommend fittings, colour and spacing.

Fixed written quote
You get a quote that lists every light, dimmer and switch, with the total including GST.

Install and tidy
Drop sheets down, old fittings removed, new lights installed and any spare cut-outs patched ready for paint.

Test and hand over
We test every circuit, set dimmer ranges, show you any timers or apps and issue your certificate.
Standards and compliance
All lighting is installed by A-grade licensed electricians to AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules). We fit IC-4 rated downlights so ceiling insulation can sit over them safely, use LED-compatible dimmers, protect lighting circuits with RCD safety switches and use IP-rated fittings outdoors and in wet areas. Every job finishes with a Certificate of Testing and Safety.

What homeowners ask us most before a relight.
How much does it cost to replace halogen downlights with LED?
From $69 per light supplied and installed where the existing cut-out can be reused. Most three-bedroom homes have 20 to 30 downlights, so a whole-home swap usually lands between $1,380 and $2,070.
Which colour temperature should I choose?
Warm white (around 3000K) suits living areas and bedrooms. Neutral white (around 4000K) works well in kitchens, laundries and garages. Switchable fittings let you choose either with a small switch on the driver, which is handy if you are unsure.
Why do my LED lights flicker or buzz?
Usually because the dimmer was made for halogen globes. LED lights need a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. We match the dimmer to the fittings so they dim smoothly without flicker.
Can insulation go over LED downlights?
Only if the downlight is IC-4 rated. All the downlights we install are IC-4 rated, which means insulation can sit directly over them. Older halogen downlights need clearance from insulation, which leaves gaps that let heat into the house.
How many downlights do I need?
It depends on the room size, ceiling height and the beam angle of the fitting. We plan spacing room by room so the light is even, rather than putting the same number in every room. Our guide to LED downlights covers the detail.
Can you install lights I have bought myself?
Yes, as long as they are approved for sale in Australia and carry the RCM mark. We check the fittings before we quote so there are no surprises on the day.
