House rewiring on the Gold Coast

Cable insulation does not last forever, especially in hot Gold Coast roof spaces. If your home still has rubber-insulated wiring, unearthed circuits or a patchwork of old repairs, we test it properly, tell you what actually needs replacing and rewire it circuit by circuit or as a whole home.

Signs your home may need rewiring

Age alone does not mean a rewire. Condition does. These are the things that tell us the wiring needs a closer look.

Black rubber or cloth-covered cable in the roof space or at the switchboard
Lights that flicker or dim when appliances start, across more than one room
Power points or light switches that are warm, discoloured or crackle when used
Circuits with no earth, or old two-pin outlets still in use
Safety switches that trip repeatedly on the same circuit after fault finding
A renovation, extension or building report that has flagged the existing wiring

What's included in a rewire

We only replace what the testing says needs replacing, and we tell you why.

Testing and assessment

Insulation resistance and earth continuity testing on every circuit, so the decision is based on results, not guesswork.

Partial or full rewire

Replacing the worst circuits first, or the whole home in stages, with modern TPS cable sized to today's loads.

New outlets and switches

Fresh power points, light switches and fittings on the new cable, with extra outlets added while the walls are open.

Switchboard and RCDs

New circuits connected to RCD safety switches, with a switchboard upgrade quoted together if the existing board is due.

How much does rewiring cost on the Gold Coast?

A single circuit rewire starts from $890, and a full rewire of a three-bedroom, single-level home usually lands between $8,900 and $13,500. Highset and timber homes with good underfloor access are quicker than slab-on-ground brick homes, where cable has to be fed down solid walls. Two storeys, ceiling height and the number of points all affect the price. You get a fixed written quote after we test.

Every new circuit is protected by an RCD safety switch and tested for insulation resistance, earth continuity and polarity before it is livened. You receive a Certificate of Testing and Safety and a labelled circuit chart.

What clients say about our rewiring work

Read all reviews

“Honest advice, not an upsell.”

We asked about a full rewire. They checked the house and told us only two circuits needed work, which saved us thousands. We will use them again.

Linda F.

Coomera · Safety inspection

“We stayed in the house the whole week.”

They rewired our old fibro cottage room by room and had the power back on every night. The patching was so neat we only needed one coat of paint.

Andrew M.

Labrador · Full rewire

“Showed us the test results before quoting.”

Clear photos of the old rubber cable in the roof and the numbers from every circuit. Easy decision after that, and the price never moved.

FAQs

Rewiring questions

What homeowners ask before deciding on a rewire.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Testing tells you. We measure the insulation resistance and earth continuity of every circuit. Rubber or cloth-insulated cable, unearthed circuits and repeated faults on the same circuit are the usual reasons to rewire.

Does an old house always need a full rewire?

No. Many older homes have been partly rewired over the years. We often find that only a few circuits need replacing, and we will tell you if that is the case.

How long does a full rewire take?

Most three-bedroom, single-level homes take three to five days. Two-storey and slab-on-ground brick homes take longer because cable is harder to get into the walls.

Can we live in the house while you rewire?

Usually, yes. We work in stages and restore power to the finished circuits at the end of each day, so you have lights, the fridge and hot water overnight.

Will there be holes in my walls?

Some, where cable has to come down solid walls or past noggins. We keep them small, patch them ready for paint and tell you where they will be before we start.

Should I upgrade the switchboard at the same time?

If it still has ceramic fuses or no RCD safety switches, yes. Doing both together saves a second power-off day and the new circuits connect straight to the new board.
